It can be overwhelming to pack up your home for a big move. As professional movers, we’re often asked about the best ways to pack up bathroom items. Here are some of our tips for packing up your medicine cabinets, toiletries, and other bathroom essentials.

Sort Everything Into Categories

Sorting the items in your bathroom can take some time, but it can be helpful in staying organized and calm during the moving process. Categories to sort your belongings into include cleaning supplies, medicine, cosmetics, toiletries, and others. Place each category in a separate, labeled box to make unpacking even easier.

Get Rid of Stuff

After your stuff is sorted into categories, be sure to throw out empty or expired shampoo bottles, expired medicines, or anything else you don’t need or want. And you can help care for our environment by checking if anything you choose to get rid of is recyclable, or you might even be able to donate it. For example, you can donate gently used bath mats or towels to Goodwill. And if you no longer want your old shower curtain liners or used toothbrushes, make note to purchase fresh ones for your new space.

Keep Essentials for Later

For the day you leave your old home and when you arrive at your new one, you’ll need to keep a few essentials in a separate bag. This is to avoid the inconvenience of having to search for your essentials in the numerous boxes you’ll have. You can have each family member pack individual bags for items such as toilet paper, toothpaste, a toothbrush, and deodorant.

Pack Bathroom Supplies

If you’re packing your cleaning supplies yourself, it’s important to be careful to avoid spills and leaks. Remember to place each container tightly closed and in a plastic bag to keep it safe. Try packing each item upright and labeling the box to stay organized. You can place toiletries in a small box and line it with a towel if there’s liquid in the containers.

Pack Up Your Decor

When packing up fragile items like small mirrors and picture frames, be sure to pad each box and fill in the extra space inside with towels to keep everything from moving around and breaking. Do not stuff these boxes with smaller items that may cause cracks or scratches to the surfaces. For larger mirrors, cover them with bubble wrap or a towel to prevent damage.nd.
